The story slowly but surely begins to unravel that a larger mystery is at play and the murder investigation starts to feel a bit like an afterthought. The multiple homicide done by a mysterious figure provides a solid hook that got me intrigued. The plot was fine enough to make me want to finish the book. In terms of the worldbuilding, I cannot complain and would definitely love to see more of this world. Especially the Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments and Supernatural Entities which felt like a magical but not too outlandish workplace. Many locations were delicately described and instantly drew me in. Reading about steampunk Egypt felt unique and fresh. Djélí Clark and would like to discuss the book (and mostly the protagonist) while my memories are still fresh. Just finished reading A Master of Djinn by P.
